What are the benefits of the Autobacs Engine Warranty?

Peace of mind that Autobacs Japan will cover your engine in the unlikely event of an engine oil related mechanical failure. Registration is quick, easy and free of charge.

What does the warranty cover?

Subject to the Terms and Conditions, the Autobacs Engine Warranty covers engine parts as follows:

Pistons and Rings

Turbocharger Bearings

Timing Gear and Chains

Cylinder Linings or Bore

Oil Pump

Rods and Rod Bearings

Crankshaft and Bearings

Camshaft and Bearings

Valve Lifters

Rocker Arms and Pivots

Distributor Drive Gear

Gudgeon Pins and Bushings

Valve Stems and Guides (excludes grinding adjustment)

What is the extent of the warranty coverage?

Coverage is up to a maximum of RM 16,000 per claim for Autobacs fully synthetic engine oil 0W-16, 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 5W-40 and RM 10,000 per claim for Autobacs semi synthetic engine oil 5W-30, 10W-40.

Tolling fees and associates towing charges to the nearest repair workshop will be reimbursed up to a maximum of RM 2,000 if determined to be a valid claim.

Vehicles with an odometer mileage above 100,00kms at the time of oil change are limited to 50% coverage of actual claim with a maximum of RM 8,000 per claim for Autobacs fully synthetic engine oil 0W-16, 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 5W-40 and RM 5,000 per claim for Autobacs semi synthetic engine oil 5W-30, 10W-40.

How do I join the program?

Perform an oil change using the prescribed Autobacs engine oils at a certified Autobacs workshop then follow the link at the bottom of this page to enroll in the program.

How long does the warranty apply?

The warranty period begins after 30 days and 1,000kms from the date of the oil change, provided that the Autobacs Engine Warranty has been registered.

For Autobacs fully synthetic engine oil 0W-16, 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30 and 5W-40, the warranty is valid until the sooner of the date on which the vehicle has been driven for 10,000kms or 6 months from the date of the oil change.

For Autobacs semi synthetic engine oil 5W-30, 10W-40, the warranty is valid until the sooner of the date on which the vehicle has been driven for 7,000kms or 3 months from the date of the oil change.

A claim is considered valid only if all criteria are met.

Is my vehicle eligible to register?

Your vehicle may be eligible to register with the Autobacs Engine Warranty program if:

You are using Autobacs fully synthetic engine oil 0W-16, 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30 and 5W-40 or Autobacs semi synthetic engine oil 5W-30, 10W-40.

Your vehicle has been driven for less than 150,000kms and is under 12 years old at the time of the oil change.

Your vehicle is a privately-owned passenger car, van, SUV or pick up/light truck and is registered to operate within Malaysia only.

You are using the correct grade and viscosity as recommended by the OEM/car manufacturer.

How do I know I have successfully registered for Autobacs Engine Warranty?

You will receive a confirmation email after registering online. Contact Autobacs customer service on 07-244-8578 if you do not receive a confirmation email with 24 hours of completing the online registration.

Can I make a claim if I have not previously registered in the program?

No. You must first be registered in the Autobacs Engine Warranty program to be able to make a claim.

Can I register for the program if my vehicle is not a Malaysia-registered vehicle?

The Autobacs Engine Warranty program is only available to locally registered vehicles within Malaysia.

How do I make a claim?

If your car breaks down, contact Autobacs customer service on 07-244-8578 for assistance. Ensure that you have the details of your Autobacs Engine Warranty registration, oil change records, receipts, vehicle service history and vehicle registration.

Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd agrees to provide the following warranty to repair or replace at its option and expense, subject to the terms contained herein, the engine components listed in section (IV) Coverage that fail or experience abnormal wear due to failure of the prescribed Autobacs engine oil to provide adequate lubrication to the engine of the vehicle. Registration must be completed for each applicable vehicle via the online registration form locate at www.xxxxxx.com.my prior to making a claim.

Important Information

Autobacs goods and services are included under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 with compensation entitled for any reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by a defect in the product. The benefits of the Autobacs Engine Oil Warranty program are in addition to other rights and remedies under the law in relations to Autobacs products and services.

Regular vehicle maintenance performed by competent technician(s) is a requirement for reliable engine operation. Regular oil changes are one of many aspects of proper vehicle maintenance and the Autobacs Engine Oil Warranty does not imply that all engine problems are covered by this warranty.

A vehicle breakdown or engine problem can be caused by many factors. If the breakdown or engine problem is not due to Autobacs lubricant product then your claim will be rejected, and you may be responsible for the assessment costs. Accordingly, please proceed with a claim only after careful consideration that the issue is related to engine lubricant failure.

You will be liable for upfront payment of towing, assessment and repairs costs the vehicle. These costs will be reimbursed, up to the applicable limits, only if and after your vehicle meets the assessment criteria and is approved as a valid claim in accordance with the Autobacs Engine Oil Warranty program.

I. EFFECTIVE DATE

This warranty takes effect from and including the later of (a) the date falling 30 days after the engine oil change has been completed and (b) the date on which the vehicle has accumulated an additional 1,000 kilometers to its odometer reading from the date of oil change, and only if registration has been completed to the satisfaction of Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

II. ELIGIBILITY

A privately-owned passenger car, SUV, van or pickup/light truck with a gasoline or diesel engine vehicle is eligible to apply for this warranty if:

The vehicle has been driven for less than 150,000 kilometers and the vehicle is 12 years old or less at the time of service; and

You can provide proof of service showing that the oil was changed as recommended by the vehicle’s manufacturer during the period between the in-service date and the date of this application.

This warranty does not cover vehicles used for commercial, agricultural or farming purposes.

III. PERIOD

This warranty is provided for the Autobacs engine oil products listed below and the periods specified.

If you use Autobacs Fully Synthetic Engine Oil (0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 5W-40), after the first 1,000 kilometers the warranty lasts until the earlier of the dates of either (a) the vehicle is driven for 10,000 km or (b) the end of 6 months from the date of the oil change.

If you use Autobacs Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil (5W-30, 10W-40), after the first 1,000 km the warranty lasts until the earlier of the dates of either (a) the vehicle is driven for 7,000 km or (b) the end of 3 months from the date of the oil change.

IV. COVERAGE

Coverage is limited to the following engine parts only:

Pistons and Rings

Turbocharger Bearings

Timing Gear or Sprokets and Chains

Cylinder Linings or Bore

Oil Pump

Rods and Rod Bearings

Balance Shaft & Puch Rods

Crankshaft and Bearings

Camshaft and Bearings

Valve Lifters

Rocker Arms and Pivots

Distributor Drive Gear (not applicable for diesel cars)

Wrist Pins & Buchings

Gudgeon Pins and Bushings

Valve Stems and Guides (excludes grinding adjustment)

V. LIMITS OF LIABILITY

In no event shall the liability of Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd exceed (a) RM16,000 for Autobacs Full- Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 5W-40 and (b) RM10,000 for Autobacs Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil 5W-30, 10W-40.

Vehicles with a starting odometer mileage above 100,000 kilometers when registered for coverage are limited to 50% of actual claim with (a) maximum limit of RM 8,000 for Autobacs Full Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 5W-40 and (b) maximum limit of RM5,000 for Autobacs Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil 5W-30, 10W-40.

VI. CONDITIONS

To keep this warranty valid, you must comply with all the following requirements:

The vehicle engine must be serviced with the correct grade and viscosity of Autobacs engine oil.

Upon registering for the Autobacs Engine Oil Warranty Program, Autobacs recommends the intervals between motor oil changes does not exceed 10,000 kilometers or six months if using Autobacs Full-Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 5W-40 and 7,000 kilometers or three months if using Autobacs Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil 5W-30, 10W-40, whichever shall occur first.
Under no circumstances, however, shall the intervals between motor oil changes exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations for drain intervals as specified in the Owner’s Manual of the vehicle.

The motor oil used must be appropriate viscosity grade based on ambient conditions.

Any top ups should be made with same engine oil.

Do not add any engine oil treatments or other oil engine additives.

The oil filter and air filter must be replaced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

All services referred in the section VI must be performed by an approved Autobacs Auto Service Workshop.

In the event of a claim, you must provide Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd with satisfactory evidence that all the requested services referred to in Section VI have been performed.

IMPORTANT: You must retain copies of all service receipts and repair orders to collect on a claim under this warranty. These receipts must satisfactorily show that Autobacs engine oil was used; the mileage and date each time the motor oil was put into the vehicle; and the time and date that other services referred to in Section VI were performed.

VII. EXCLUSIONS

This warranty is subject to all the following conditions and exclusions:

It does not cover vehicles modified for, or used in, competitive events.

It only covers factory-installed or OEM-specified engine parts.

It does not cover corporate or leased vehicles.

It does not cover claims that are the result of pre-existing conditions, collision damage, negligent or intentional abuse, improper service or maintenance, defect in manufacturer, improper installation of any part, coolant contamination, or the failure to keep the motor oil and engine coolant at the levels prescribed by the manufacturer. Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd. will not refuse payment for such claims that otherwise comply with the terms of this warranty, unless it is demonstrated in good faith that one or more of the aforementioned causes has resulted in the damage claimed.

It does not cover claims also covered by the vehicle manufacturer’s warranty or any extended service warranty contract. However, if you have otherwise complied with the terms of this warranty, Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd will pay the deductible amount to be paid by you under any extended service warranty contract purchased by you which covers such a claim.

This warranty is void if at the time you applied for this warranty, your vehicle had more than 150,000 kilometers and/or the vehicle was more than 12 years old at the time of service.

VIII.FILLING A CLAIM

Procedure to follow in the event of a claim under this warranty:

You must notify Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd. of a claim via the Autobacs Engine Oil Warranty Hotline on +60xx xxx xxxx prior to having any repairs / replacements made. Claims must be made directly to Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd and not through a dealer or distributor.

You must provide Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd. with all of the following:
(a) Information to identify your online registration. Online registration must be completed at least 30 days and 1,000kms prior to your claim otherwise you will not be covered and will not be able to benefit from the coverage of the warranty. (b) Copies of all service repair orders/receipts to verify compliance with the terms of the warranty. (c) A copy of the current vehicle registration card/paper. (d) A sample of the engine oil is to be provided at the time the claimed engine damage is discovered. Contact Autobacs Engine Oil Warranty Hotline +60xx xxx xxxx for instructions.

The claim will only be approved if it has been deemed that the engine damage is covered by this warranty and that you have complied with all the terms herein.

Autobacs Car Service Malaysia Sdn Bhd has limited responsibilities under this warranty, specifically to the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged engine parts listed above in accordance with Section V above or, in the proper case, paying the deductible amount noted in, and in accordance with Section VII (4) above.
